I learned something yesterday I won't be ever forgetting.
See I always loved gass stoves because you always atleast knew where the flame was and for me this was important because I'm scared of fire, and now even more so.

Everyone I know stores pans in the bottom broiler. What I didn't know though was when a gass stove has the ovin turned on it autimatically turns on the broiler.

I'm not sure if it's all gass stoves or just the ghetto ones our apartment complex provides.

I smelled something i didn't like and reached in and found there was something plastic or something in there i don't know... but ya I turned off the ovin right then and was going to get everything out of the ovin in one second when it cooled.

I never got the chance. All I can say is thank god my friends and I are ok. I am now tarrified of gass stoves, and I believe my friend jess is too who was cooking on the stove tops.

Someone tell me if their gass stove turns on the broiler/bottom section of the oven that looks like a drawer when they turn on the ovin? I always had separate settings for it.

I've only had one gas stove, and I HATED it!!! It did the same thing, and it always scared the hell out of me in general.

i have never heard of that happening with a gas stove. that is really scary. by the way do you know of an accessible one that I can get. mine, which I have had for 15 years stopped working this morning. well it cooks but the clock thing that controls it messed up and it makes this horrible shrill beep every 15 seconds. a great way to sterilize lab rats.

I have no clue but as I type they're installing my... "new stove. It's a cast off from an empty apartment that had burners that didn't work. They put my old burners on this stove. I guess what ever works for them. They also told me that some stoves are different, but these heat from the bottom. Going to find a new place to store all my remaining pans now.

Hmmm. I had a gas stove in one of my old apartments, but it didn't have this problem.

I've never heard of storing pots and pans in the broiler. No. But I love my gas stove. I always have preferred gas stoves over electric ones.
